The Wilson County Democratic Woman continue to make positive contributions to the county with a second successful Book and Yard sale, this year raising $2,100 for the Mt. Juliet Help Center. The Book and Yard Sale was held on the property in front of the Help Center at 11750 Lebanon Road, on Friday June 2^nd and Saturday June 3^rd.   

 

“The Democratic Women are proud to be able to help people in need in West Wilson County”, said Charlene Foutch, President of Wilson County Democratic Women. Donated books and household items were collected throughout the county and sold at the event. Dixie Taylor-Huff of Lebanon donated the tent that was used for the sale. Volunteers from the Wilson County Democratic Women, Wilson County Democrats and the Mt Juliet Help Center staffed the sale.

 

The most immediate needs of the Mt Juliet Help Center are a new location and financial contributions. According to Maria Donald, manager of the Center, “The Help Center must leave its current location at the beginning of July”. Anyone who has a suitable location is asked to call the Community Help Center at 754-4357.

 

The Mt Juliet Help Center is a non-profit organization, which supports those in need in Wilson County from the Davidson County line to Highway 109. The center meets the needs by distributing food and clothing to over 200 individuals a month. The help center operates on an annual budget of $25,000 raised strictly from donations from generous citizens, community churches, the City of Mt Juliet, Wilson County, The United Way and MTEMC.

 

The Wilson County Democratic Women meet the 2^nd Tuesday of each month at the Quality Inn in Mt Juliet at 6:30pm. The Democratic Women make many other contributions throughout the Wilson County community by sponsoring a scholarship to a college bound graduate each year, donating baskets of household items to new home owners of Habit for Humanity and donating new books to the Wilson County Library system several times each year.
